History
Ometz Group is a holding of 15 companies, active in Brazil and abroad in the education and communication segments. Besides the companies, it has specific departments – Administrative, Law, Marketing, IT and Architecture, in charge of attending the Group itself and its companies.
The word Ometz comes from the Hebrew and means audacity and bravery, striking characteristics of a 13 years successful path.
1995
On April 3rd the first Wise Up unit was founded, downtown Rio de Janeiro. Eight months later the creation of the second school, on Avenida Paulista, Brazilian busiest commercial center, already announced the success of the company.
2000
Over the Five initial years Wise Up inaugurated 24 units in the main Brazilian state capitals, opening up a new school practically every two months. In 2000 Wise Up also started its first franchise, in Volta Redonda, Rio de Janeiro state. The franchisee, Débora Fernandes, had been a student and decided to invest in the business. Débora and her husband, Délio Gomes, currently have four schools in Southern Rio de Janeiro state.
This year the Research and Development Department also launched its first great project: Elton’s Life, a cartoon series that made up Wise Up didactic material, based on the Lexical Approach – innovation in the language market.
2003
In 2003, owning 40 schools all over the country, Wise Up took a step ahead and opened up its first offshore unit, in order to offer the English language teaching to oil platform employees.
This year the company also launched Lexical – its second flag, focusing on young and adult people who wish to make progress in the professional market, and the Hunting Winners, an endo-marketing strategy which increased the influx of new students by 200% and became the main tool for the Ometz Group people management.
2005
The ten initial years of the Wise Up brand were celebrated with 100 units and a party held at Morro da Urca, RJ. In the occasion, the Ometz group International Headquarters were presented. By the end of 2005 the company made its first feature film – That’s All About Fame, which is included in the current didactic material.
Once again an unprecedented initiative, which represented a two million reais investment and took Wise Up to the forefront of the very best in language teaching worldwide.
2007
In 2007, with a 130-unit network, the company experienced the year of achievement. It launched its new logo, introduced the educational material in all units, extended its distribution channels and opened the Ometz Group international headquarters, in Curitiba.
2009
A year of growth for Wise Up, with and investment of approximately 30 million reais in media
2010
The Year of the Revolution scored all Ometz Group companies, especially Wise Up, which grew like never before. International expansion became solidified with the opening of the first unit in the United States, in Orlando, and the expansion into Latin America.
